A Challenging Week

It has been an interesting and challenging week this week for Amdram.net | Amateur Theatre Community

■Following an upgrade to some of the components on our server we started to suffer from performance problems – we have now addressed this problem
■Spam Increase – We haven’t completely addressed this problem as yet however we will shortly be introducing new user moderation to the site to prevent further misuse – We have secured the funding and have asked a developer to make this modification for us.
■Newsletter – The newsletter did not complete sending, we’re not sure if this was associated with the performance problem above – We shall see

Director and Musical Director for ‘Oliver!’
The Western Opera Players, a well established amateur Bristol group staging musicals at the Redgrave Theatre, Clifton, seek to appoint a Director and Musical Director for their 2011 production of ‘Oliver!’, 12th to 16th April at the Redgrave Theatre.
We rehearse in Southville and the rehearsal period is September to April with main rehearsals on Tuesday evenings and, from November, principal rehearsals on Wednesdays. There are occasional weekend rehearsals in the spring.
The Musical Director would be expected to conduct an eight piece band for the performances.
Applicants for both positions should be willing to work with children and be prepared to undergo a CRB check in compliance with legal requirements.
An honorarium is paid, which could be negotiable.
If you are interested in either post, please contact our secretary, Debbie Tonkin, as soon as possible. It would be helpful if you could outline your previous experience.

Important Notes

• Please ensure that the Twitter account that you link to you group is dedicated to the group as we need to make sure activity updates are on topic – As per the rules here
• You can link your Twitter account to your group as long as you are the Group Administrator, if not please contact us or your Group Administrator

We have now introduced further preventative measures to minimise the number of  “Spam Registrations” made on  the site and would like to sincerely apologise to all our visitors for the inconvenience caused.

Unfortunately spam is becoming an ever increasing problem on the internet, I note from perusing the BBC News website today that even the internet giants such as Google are struggling to find new and effective ways to combat this menace.

We will continue to monitor, review and develop the site to inhibit this menace!

We have spent a number of months developing a new brand for Amdram.net | Amateur Theatre Community which reflects the more modern approach that we are taking to things.

We will shortly be rolling out our new brand across all aspects of the site, this will take some time as the previous logo is around 5 years old
